What do plants need to grow?

Objective: Studens design and conduct a procedure to test whether plants need sunlight or water to grow.

Procedure:

1. Choose whether you want to test if plants need water or if they need sunlight.

1. Prepare 4 pots with plants. Take a picture.

2. Put labels on each plant "A", "B", "C", and "D". Take a picture.

3. Place plants A and B on a windowsill to get full sunlight. Take a picture.

4. Put plants C and D in a dark place. Take a picture.

5. Add 25 mL of water to plants A and C (not to B and D) every other day for two weeks. Take pictures once of you watering them.

6. Observe the plants every day and record the observations. You may also take pictures of the plants and write what day it is. For example, on day 3 plant C started to wilt, or become yellow.... everything you can notice.

7. I would be very grateful to students who can do the experiment from the beginning to the end.

The plant needs water, air, sunlight, and nutrients to grow

We will test the growth of the plants according to the needs to needs that we offered to the plants, so we brought 4 plants and labeled as (A,B, C and C)

Plant A : with water and sunlight

Plant B: with sunlight but no water

Plant C: with water but no sunlight

Plant D: without water, without sunlight

We will observe the growth from today (21 May) for two weeks.

I put plant (A) in sunny place with water ........ and I put plant (B) in sunny place without water

I put plant (c) in dark place with water ........ and plant (D) in dark place without water

I place plants A and B near the window to get the sunlight ( not C and D )

I water plants A and C ( not B and D )

I start to take a picture every week

I find that plants B, C, and D started to die because they don't get their correct needs

They start to change to yellow and lose their leaves

Plant A still lives because it gets its needs.

First, I placed plants A &B next to the sunlight

After, a week of watering only plant A , I noticed that plant A is still green and healthy while plant B become dry and the leaves turned into yellow

now as for plant C&D I placed them far from the sunlight and I watered only plant C. After a while I noticed that both plants become yellow but for plant D it was worst because there was no water or sunlight

Day 28/4 It was the fourteenth day of my plants. There are a lot of changes

Plant A is still in good condition

Unfortunately Plant B died

Plant C all leaves withered

I learned too many things when I watched the changes in a practical way

very fun and very useful experiment

we start our experiment at 15th April plant A water and sun light,plant B sun NO water, plant c water NO sunlight, plant d NO water NO sunlight at fist all plant healthy

After 3 days at 18th April we observe that plant A and C still healthy while plant B and D start to wilt

After 3 days we observe that plant A still healthy while plants B and D start to die while plant c started to wilt this is happening because plants need water and sun

After 4 days the plant B which is in the windowsill but not watered began withering and dying whereas plant A is still healthy and green

The same thing happened to plant D which is placed in the dark place and not watered but plant C which in the same place with B is still healthy and green

I start the experiment with four flowers, I put plants A and B in places that can get sunlight I give plant A water but did not give plant B.

l put plants C and D in a dark place and give plant c water but not give plant D water

After several days I notice plantA still healthy and growing, plant B become dry and yellow plant C wilt and plant D very dry and yellow

I put plants A and B in the window to get sun

I put water on plant B and don't put water on plant A

and I put plants C and D in the dark and i give water to plant C

After 6 days i find that plant A BECOME shrivel and the leave of plant C turned yellow

plant B that we placed on the edge of the window is starting to wilt

plant D in a dark place,its leaves turned yellow started to wilt

After 2days I added the water of the plant A and D

I observed: plant A grow up and have more leaves,Plant B grow up a little and I saw the soil dry, plant C grow up a little and l saw the soil wet ,Plant D didn’t grow .
