How does a plant make oxygen?

Objective:

Students will design and construct an investigation to demonstrate how a plant uses sunlight to make oxygen.

Materials: clear plastic bowl, Elodea, clear plastic jars, sunlight, water, hand lens

Procedure:

1. Place an Elodea plant in a glass jar filled with water.

2. Put a lid on the jar.

3. Place the jar with the Elodea plant in sunlight.

4. Observe the plant throughout the day. Look carefully for bubbles on the leaves.

5. Throughout the day record your observations of how the number of bubbles you see changes.

6. Leave your plant in a dark area for a day. Record your observations.

Plant make oxygen experiment

Materials:

1-A plant from the garden

2-Glass bottle filled with water

3-cover

4-Sunlight or any light source

First ,I placed the plant inside the bottle of glass and filled it with water as shown below :

Then I left it in the sunlight for about 4 hours the bubbles increased as shown

at last I placed it in a dark place , the bubbles almost disappeared

Ahmed Hassan

Conclusion :

The plant produce oxygen during the day using sunlight through photosynthesis process and its more in the day than in the night due to the sunlight existence

We did this project to know what is the effect of sunlight on plant respiration and the production of oxygen gas?

We put a part of the plant in a pot filled with water and covered it, put it on the window, shone sunlight on it, and left it for a while.

An hour later, we took these pictures and saw little bubbles of air on the leaves

After 4 hours, we took other pictures to see if the continuous exposure of the plant to sunlight will increase the bubbles or not, and we saw the bubbles actually increase.

Then we put the plant in a dark place that does not reach the sun's rays, to see if there is a difference in the bubbles ??

We took pictures an hour after it was put in the dark and saw the number of bubbles really start to decrease

Then we left it for another 4 hours and we saw that most of the bubbles disappeared. This indicates that sunlight is very necessary for plant respiration and production of oxygen gas, in addition to its importance in the process of producing leaves for food, as we learned from previous experience.

First of all, I placed a plant in a jar of water  and covered the top of it this is plant during the daytime under the sunlight lots of bubbles gathered on the top of the leaves.

At the night we placed the jar in a dark place after a few hours we noticed that the number of bubbles have decreased this is a photo of it in the nighttime.

Hello .. I put the plant in a jar, filled it with water, put a lid on it, and left it for the whole night in a dark place, and in the morning I saw a few bubbles and then I put it in the sunlight and left it for several hours. After that, I noticed that the number of bubbles doubled, but the size of the bubbles was small.

I put the plant in the jar and put it in the sun light and after 4 hours i see many bubbles on the roots

At first, I put a plant with its root in a pool full of water  in sunlight  we observed  bubbles on the leaves this means that the leaves were breathing air and giving us oxygen

When I put the plant in a dark place for a night  I see the number of bubbles decrease

I put the plant in a plastic container and put a lid on it  and put it in the sunlight after 4 hours I see many bubbles on the leaves

The bubbles increased during the day due to oxygen making but it decreased during the night

when I put the jar in the dark I see no bubble

I put the jar in the sunlight and after 2 hours I see bubbles

after 3 hours (in dark place)

In this picture I put it in dark place so l observed the bubbles decrease

in the sunlight

in the sunlight

after  3 hours , I observed there is a lot of bubbles form on the surface of the leaves ( in the sunlight)

after 1 hour ,I observed there is some bubbles form on the surface of the leaves (in the sunlight)

In this experiment, I will prove how a plant  makes oxygen So I use this material in my experiment: glass jar ,sunlight, water, leaves, zoom camera

Razan Muhannad
Plants will die if they get too dry, but if the lid is airtight, then the water vapor should not be able to escape from the jar. If the lid is not airtight, and the plant does start to dry out, then you could have your daughter water the plant inside the jar

Hi, first we put a plant in a plastic box and leave for a full night in a dark place, we noticed very few bubbles, then the next morning we put it under the sunlight after many hours we noticed a lot of bubbles on the back of the led as shown in the above pictures.

Reda Ali

When I put the jar in the sun some hours later, bubbles formed on the leaves

 Reda Mohammed
When I put it in the dark, I noticed that the bubbles were gone

In the day, more and bigger bubbles formed. The bubbles were everywhere on the leaves and we even found some bubbles on the lid.

In conclusion, I learned that plants produce Oxgeon during the day due to photosynthesis and carbon dioxide during the night due to breathing.

Ruqaia Khaled
In the night, there were not that many bubbles and they are small. These bubbles are carbon dioxide from plant's breathing.

In the sunlight I observe the bubbles after a few hours in night the bubbles decreased

We put the plant inside a jar filled with water and put it in the sunlight for a few hours. We take a look again, and we saw bubbles in it.

When we put the container in a dark place we noticed that there were no bubbles which mean there's no oxygen released

After few hours we noticed that there's a lot of bubbles in the container and on the surface of the leaves which means that the plant release oxygen during the process of making its own food by using sunlight

Zainab Haider
First we put part of the plant in the container which filled with water and cover it and put it in the sunlight

When we put the plant in the darkwe notice a few bubbles on the plant.

And when put the plant in the sunlight, we notice the number of oxygen bubbles on the plant  increases.
