Is goop solid or liquid?
Most of the materials around you are clearly solid, liquid, or gas. Could there be substances that are hard to classify?
Objective: Students will make and manipulate a cornstarch substance to determine whether it is a solid or a liquid.
Materials: water, cornstarch, spoon, bowl, safety goggles, measuring cup.
Procedure:
1. Measure 1 cup of cornstarch. Combine the cornstarch with 1/2 cup of water. Stir with a spoon or use your hands.
2. When the cornstarch and water are thoroughly mixed, stir them slowly with the spoon. Then stir it very quickly. Record your observations.
3. Pick up some of the mixture in your hand. Try to roll it into a ball. Keep pushing in the mixture while rolling it. Then stop pushing on the mixture while you hold it over the bowl. Record your observations.
4. What are some other investigations that you can do with the mixture?

Hello teacher, my observation about this experiment is When mixing the water with cornstarch, the mixture became very thick and difficult to stir. Then it became soft and stretchy.

From my experiment l observed that l can slowly dip my hand into it like a liquid but if I squeeze Oobleck or punch it, it will feel solid.
I can classify the Oobleck mixture as non _a Newtonian fluid, it has properties of both solid and liquid.

When I mixed corn powder with water and I hit it, it is solid, but when I do not it turns into liquid. So goop is solid and liquid.
